Startup India 2047: what students should actually build

Every week I meet students who want to start up but are waiting for a big idea. The big idea is a myth. The founders who last pick an unglamorous problem they can see from where they stand — hiring, logistics, compliance, property, education delivery — and get uncomfortably close to it.

Sell before you build. If you cannot get one person to pay a rupee or sign a letter of intent, more code will not save the idea. My first ventures survived because they were paid for by customers, not by optimism.

Stay in your city. Tier-two and tier-three India is not a disadvantage; it is a distribution advantage and a cost advantage. Jharkhand taught me more about real customers than any metro ever could.

Finally, build inside the system. Register the entity, keep clean books, understand the schemes available to you. Startup India and the Viksit Bharat 2047 mission open real doors for founders who show up formally prepared.
